VIRGIN ATLANTIC

Giving a better meal choice to our customers

USER RESEARCH, USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN, USER INTERFACE DESIGN, INTERACTION DESIGN
What was the problem?
We wanted our inflight dining experience to live up to the high standards we hold ourselves to in our airport ‘Clubhouse’ lounges.

This meant giving our customers a more varied range of over 20 delicious meal options to choose from in advance, from any destination. In doing so, we could guarantee their first choice while reducing unnecessary food waste.
Understanding our users
My first step in this process was to find out how our users would understand the information presented to them. I began with a series of card sort studies to discern the logical groupings they made.

From there, I created some low fidelity prototypes concepts. I used an online panel of users to validate our initial design direction and iron out any minor usability issues we observed.
Bringing my idea to life
My low fidelity prototype finalised, the next step was to add the Virgin Atlantic flair that our customers have come to expect. It was important to create a delightful user experience that encompasses our brand style and the latest user interface trends.

Throughout this project I worked alongside our brand team and an external agency to create a set of photographic assets that would enhance our digital experience.
